If it was released in the 90's, it'd probably have classic status at this point--but as it is more recent, it ends up standing on the backs of previous greats. Standard black metal, nothing too world-shattering, but worth owning if you're a fan. Interesting to see how far the group has come since albums like this. Nihil's Maw

The cover art here, somehow, very accurately conveys the atmosphere that you should expect to find on Tôtbringære, which is a folk-oriented, medieval-themed, and highly-melodic black metal affair shuffling between the mid- and high-tempo range, and features great dynamics to boot. Comparisons to Peste Noire are fair, though I find this album to be superior to all of their output. Sühnopfer is another great point of comparison, and damn does this come close! I think hearing this album right after discovering Lycanthropic Burrowing has solidified One Master as my favorite black metal project right now. It just takes me there every single time. A howling swell that swallows me up.
